Getting Started

The sign-up and listing process is simple, but we’ve outlined a detailed explanation to guide you through the entire process. You can scroll through the full guide if you would like or jump directly to the part of the guide that corresponds to the information you are interested in.

Login/Sign Up

Signing up for an Expeerent account is extremely quick and easy to do. You can go to the "Login/Sign Up" button at the top of the page. If you already have an account, you can simply enter in your email and password to sign in. If you haven’t yet set up an account, just fill out the required fields and submit. Once you have entered in your information, be sure to check your email because we will be sending you a verification link. Once you have verified that the information in the email is correct, follow the steps to verify your email. And that’s it! Your account is now set up and you are ready to begin listing! To start listing your equipment, you will need to go to your personal dashboard.

The Dashboard

To get to your Dashboard, click on the link at the top of the page that says Dashboard, or you can click My Account in the upper righthand corner and select Dashboard from the drop-down list.

The Dashboard is like your own personal and private profile page. It is your one-stop shop for handling all your business needs like listing and managing your equipment, messaging your renters, and tracking all that money you’ve been bringing in from your rentals. The first time you visit this page, you will want to upload a profile picture. Although uploading a profile picture is not required, we highly recommend doing this. Someone looking to rent equipment is much more likely to rent equipment from you if they can see WHO they are renting from.

Note: In your Profile Details you may have noticed your personal information such as: name, address, and telephone number. This information can only be seen by you. All other Expeerent users will only be able to see your Display Name and Profile Picture.

After you have set up your profile picture, you can click on the Dashboard link again to go back to your dashboard’s main screen. You will see various boxes that will contain statistical data as you continue to use Expeerent: Listings, Rentings, Bookings, and Total Reviews.

Listings: Here you will be able to see the total number of listings you currently have available. Click on each box to view each listing. Here you can view, edit, or delete any listing that you currently have available. If you are wanting to view the step by step instructions for listing your equipment, jump to List Your Equipment or continue on.

Renting: This is where you can see any upcoming rentals that you currently have booked. If you want to view the step by step instructions for renting equipment, jump to Renting Equipment or continue on.

Bookings: If you click on Bookings from your dashboard, you will see any upcoming bookings that you currently have. If you would like to view the step by step instructions for managing your bookings, jump to My Bookings or continue on.

Total Reviews: Both the renter and the host will be encouraged to leave a review at the end of each rental period. This is where you can view all those reviews that people have made in regard to their experience with you. The reviews you receive will have a major impact on whether people rent from you (if you are the host) or accept your bookings (if you are the renter). If you would like to view more on the review process jump to Reviews or continue on.

Regarding Reviews: Please be respectful of others and others’ equipment. Having a thoughtful community of enthusiasts like yourselves is what makes Expeerent so great, so let’s keep it that way!

The rest of your dashboard items can be found on the navigation bar to the left of the screen. You should see, Dashboard, Messages, Requests, My Listings, Add Listing, My Profile, and Logout. If you select Dashboard, this simply takes you back to your dashboard’s main screen.

Any messages that you receive from potential renters will show up in your Messages item in your dashboard navigation bar. If you click on messages, you can view, reply and delete any messages that you may have. This is where you will contact the renter to agree on a drop-off and pick-up point for your rentals and answer any questions that your renter may have.

If you have any rental requests, they will show up in your Requests option on the navigation bar. You will receive an email notification any time someone requests your equipment, but this will be where you can review and either accept or decline the request for rental.

My Listings will be another way to access the list of equipment that you have listed. You will be able to manage, edit, or delete your Expeerent listings here.

If you are looking to add a new listing, you can click Add Listings on the navigation bar or the Add Listing at the top of the screen. To learn more about adding your listing jump to Listing Your Equipment, or continue on.

My Profile: Here you will upload your profile picture and see all of your information displayed. Visitors to the page will only be able to see your profile picture. Your personal information; name, address, phone number, will not be visible to guests of the site. If you wish to log out of your profile just click Log Out or click on My Account at the top of the page and log out.

How do I know if someone books my equipment?

If someone sends a booking request for your equipment, you will receive a message on your dashboard, as well as an email. Once you are notified of the booking request, you will have the option to accept or decline the booking.

If you accept the booking request, you will be responsible for the delivering the booked equipment at the location and time in the booking request, unless canceled before 48 hours of the scheduled drop off time.

List Your Equipment

To begin listing your equipment, you will need to login and go to your dashboard. You will see two primary places to add your listing, the “Add Listing” option on the left-hand side of the screen and the “Add Listing” button in the upper right-hand side of the page.

Enter the information about your equipment and make sure to be as detailed as possible when filling out this information. This is what your potential renters will be seeing. The more information you can provide upfront will result in less concerns or questions regarding your equipment when a renter views your listing.

Basic Information Give your rental a Title - entering the type and/or brand of equipment may be helpful in attracting renters to your equipment and ultimately renting from you versus other hosts on the site. Example: “Perception Tandem (2-person) Kayak”. Next you will select the type, or category, that your equipment falls under. In this example we will select, “Kayak.”

Location City and State will be the next items to fill out. These entries will be filled out based on the city that you are servicing. You will have the option to add multiple cities, which represent the locations that you are willing to deliver. Renters will be searching by city/state.

Photo Uploaed Now it is time to upload a photo of your equipment! Make sure to provide a clear image of your equipment so renters know exactly what they are getting. The more visually appealing the image, the more likely someone will choose your equipment over someone else. Please Note: Currently, you are only able to upload one photo per listing. All photos must be under 5MB.

Description/Details Enter in the Description of your equipment as well as any Additional Information that you feel the renter should know about your equipment (eg. Includes 1 paddle, life jacket, helmet, ect.) Please Note: It is expected that the host will provide the necessary safety equipment for the renter. If for any reason you are not able to provide this equipment to the renter, MAKE THIS KNOWN. (eg. Laws require that every person aboard a vessel must have a properly fitting Personal Floatation Device). You should always review your state and local laws regarding required safety and/or protective equipment.

Availability/Hours You should select which days and hours you are offering your equipment available. If there are specific days in which the equipment is not available, select “NA” from the drop-down list. Expeerent offers a 48-hour money back cancellation policy. If you wish to cancel your order you must do so 48-hours prior to your rental period. If you do not cancel 48-hours prior to the rental date, you will be charged in full for the cost of the rental and the host may leave a review of this experience. Please be punctual and at the agreed upon location on the booked date. The host will wait no more than 15 minutes before considering you a “no show”. Expeerent and the host will not be held responsible for renters not showing up or arriving late for their equipment. The renter will be charged the full amount of the rental in the event of a “no show”.

Cancellation Policy Expeerent offers a 48-hour money back cancellation policy. Please be punctual and at the agreed upon location on the booked date. The host is required to wait no more than 15 minutes before considering the renter a “no show”. Expeerent and the host will not be held responsible for renters not showing up or arriving late for their equipment. The renter will be charged the full amount of the rental in the event of a renter “no show”. Should you, the host not show up, you will be charged a $10.00 cancellation fee which will be deducted from your bi montly payments and the renter may leave a negative review.

Pricing We have broken it down into three pricing options: 4-Hour Rate (half day), 8-Hour Rate (full day), and 24-Hour Rate (overnight). You may set the rates to whatever you deem suitable for your equipment, but keep in mind, you are not only competing with other hosts on Expeerent, but also other rental companies in the area. The 10% Expeerent fee will be added to the final cost of the rental and will not be coming from the Host profit. If a renter wishes to book your equipment for multiple days, they MUST choose the 24-hour option. If a renter wishes to rent your equipment for 4-Hours for a 3-day period, they must submit a new booking for each of the days.

Now Review and Submit Listing! Your listing has now been added successfully and you will see your listing under the “My Listings” section of your dashboard. You may add as many listings as you like!

Renting Equipment

Renting equipment is very easy to do on Expeerent!

On the home page you will see an area to enter the equipment as well as the dates and locations where you are looking to rent. Start by entering in the date that you are wishing to rent the equipment. Next select the state. Now use the Select City drop-down menu to see the list of cities that currently have hosts in your selected state. If you don’t see the city you want listed, unfortunately there are no listings in your area at this time. We are always continuing to grow, so please check back in the near future to see if any listings are added in your area.

After you have selected the city, pick a category of equipment from the drop-down menu. Now click Search! All the listings based on the location and date you selected will be displayed here. If you receive a message of no available listings, you may need to try a different date or nearby city.

Select any listing to bring up more details about that item. When you are ready to book click Request this Equipment. A notification will be sent to the host letting them know that you would like to rent their equipment. The host then has the option to approve or decline your request (at their discretion). If you have any questions prior to requesting or booking, you can message the host by clicking “Send a Message.”

Once the host has approved your request, you will receive an email as well as a notification on your dashboard to complete the booking. Here you enter your billing/payment information. Once your billing information has been submitted, your booking will be confirmed.

Drop off and pick up point for the equipment will be requested by the renter when submitting the request to book the equipment.

Cancellation Policy Expeerent offers a 48-hour money back cancellation policy minus the $5.99 non refundable reservation fee. If you wish to cancel your order you must do so 48-hours prior to your rental period. If you do not cancel 48-hours prior to the rental date/time, you will be charged in full for the cost of the rental and the host may leave a negative review of this experience. Please be punctual and at the agreed upon location on the booked date. The host will wait no more than 15 minutes before considering you a “no show”. Expeerent and the host will not be held responsible for renters not showing up or arriving late for their equipment. The renter will be charged the full amount of the rental in the event of a “no show”.

Be Mindful You should always treat the equipment that you are renting like your own! The hosts are providing their equipment to you, so that you can have an enjoyable experience and experience everything this great world has to offer. If you damage, steal, or destroy the equipment you are renting, you will be responsible for paying for the damages/replacement. Expeerent has the right to ban you from continuing to use our services and you will be held responsible to the highest extent of the law. It is not required, but a good idea to go over existing damages with the host before taking the equipment. The better you can document any damages with time-stamped pictures the easier it will be for us to provide assistance should any damages be reported during the rental period.

Once your rental period has ended, please return the equipment to the host at the previously agree upon location at the correct time. If you show up late to the pick-up location, you may be charged a late fee. If for any reason the host does not show up to retrieve their equipment, please contact an Expeerent representative immediately.

Bookings

My Bookings is where you will me able to view and manage all your upcoming booked rentals. You will be able to see a list of all your equipment that has currently been reserved and approved for rental.

Reviews

At the end of the rental period, both hosts and renters will be encouraged to write a review of their experience. We encourage you to write an honest review of your experience with that specific host or renter. If you have a great experience, please share that so others may have just as great of an experience time as you did. If your experience wasn’t so great, put that in the reviews as well. That will help the host, renter, and Expeerent get a better idea of how we all can make this a great experience for everybody.

Please note: if you are consistently getting negative reviews, Expeerent reserves the right to suspend your account. We want to ensure that our community is getting the best experience from our services and it all starts with you as the host and/or renter.

Tutorials

Register ( expand)

  • To get started renting or listing your equipment, you must first register for an account on Expeerent.
  • To start, click on the Login/Sign Up Button (1).
  • If you already have an account set up, you can just enter in your email and password, and click Sign In (2).
  • If not, click Register Here (3).
  • Fill out the fields shown here, and click register. This information will not be shared with anyone. Other users will only see your Display Name.
  • You will receive a confirmation email from Expeerent to verify your account.
  • Once you click on the link in that email, your account is set up and you’re ready to log in.
Login ( expand)

  • Now that you have register for an account and have verified your account (through email link), you get logged in and start renting or listing equipment.
  • Click Login/Sign Up at the top of the screen (1).
  • Enter in your email and password that you used to create your account (2).
  • Click Sign In (3).
  • Once you have signed into your account, you will see your name displayed in at the top of the screen along with your profile picture (4).
  • You are now ready to start Renting or Listing.
Dashboard ( expand)

The Dashboard is where all important information regarding your rental bookings or listing information can be found.
There are a couple different ways to access your dashboard, but first you must login to your account.
Once logged in, your home screen should look a little bit different.

There are 3 ways you can access your dashboard (see image above):

  1. Click “My Account” at the top of the page and select “Dashboard” from the drop down (1).
  2. Click “Dashboard” from the top menu bar (on desktop) or if using a mobile device, click the hamburger menu at the top of the screen and select “Dashboard” (2).
  3. At the very bottom of the page is a section called Helpful Links. In those helpful links is another button for you to access your dashboard.

Once there, you will see various items regarding your bookings, listings, reviews, and rentings.
Under your dashboard navigation, you will see:

  1. Dashboard – To access the main screen of your dashboard.
  2. Messages – Here you can access any messages sent to you by other users.
  3. Requests – If you are listing equipment, you can view, accept, or decline any booking requests.
  4. My Listings – Here is where you can view, edit, or delete any listings you currently have available.
  5. Add Listings – By clicking this, you can begin adding a new listing.
  6. My Profile – This is where you can view your profile and upload/update your profile picture.
  7. Logout – Sign out of your Expeerent account.
  8. Upcoming Rentals is where you can see any dates for equipment you have recently booked.
  9. Upcoming Bookings is where you can see if there are any upcoming dates that people have rented your equipment for.
Add/Edit/Delete Listing ( expand)

To list your own equipment, first make sure that you are logged in. For help logging in, reference the section of this tutorial, “Login”

Now, to add or edit your listing you must access your Dashboard. To learn more about your Dashboard, reference the section of this tutorial, “Dashboard”

Once there, you will see a button at the top of the screen labeled, “Add Listing” (1)

Fill out the fields below for the item you are choosing to rent out to others. Please Note: Each item needs to have its own listing. For example, if you are listing 2 kayaks, you must first fill out the entire form for kayak #1 and submit the form. Then click “Add Listing” again and fill out the form a second time for Kayak #2.

After submitting your listing, your equipment is now available for others to start renting from you.

Edit Listing

To edit your listing, first go to your dashboard.

Next, click "Listings" (3) from the main view of your dashboard or click “My Listings” (2) from the Dashboard Navigation menu.

Here is where you will be able to see all your available listings.

From there, two options “Edit” and “Delete”

If you wish to change some information about your listing, you can click “Edit” and make any changes to the listing.

If you wish to delete this listing, click “Delete”
